Mr. Gumm has been working in the elevator trade for since 1989 in Los Angeles and surrounding areas. Throughout his career, Mr. Gumm has worked for the following companies in increasing levels of management. ThyssenKrupp Elevator, Montgomery, Otis and Amtech Elevator in modernization, service, repair sales, and management.

In 2008 Mr. Gumm was appointed General Manager to start and grew Ascent Elevator in Los Angeles California as part of an expansion of the company. Seeing the potential to start a company and set a new standard in the elevator industry, SmartRise Elevator Service Inc was founded in 2009. Mr. Gumm is the acting President and CEO.
